With the growing proliferation of both local-attached and network printers, many of which are colour capable devices, the total cost of printing within organisations is escalating along with the negative environmental impact.
ATI’s
doc-Q-route
software enables organisations to control such issues. It provides
network administrators with a simple to use tool for setting rules
for printing. These may be simply to modify the colour components in
a job to print black and white (such as emails and web pages) or to ensure that each job is sent to the
most appropriate device, or even prohibition of certain types of
printing.
Rules may be based upon a range of parameters, including: size, volume, user name, Active Directory Group, job name, colour content, device availability, etc.
The administrator configures the system with a simple
point-and-click interface. Once installed, doc-Q-route runs without
operator intervention.
Users can be informed about changes to print routines by automated
e-mail or pop-up message. Such messages may be customised for users
as required and may include, for example - advice of new printing
rules to be implemented, or why a user's job has been re-routed and
where to collect print-outs.
A key feature of doc-Q-route is the capability to log all activity.
Essentially, doc-Q-route can be configured to tell the administrator
who is printing what to which printer - how many, whether duplex,
colour or black & white - as well as what has been routed to where,
or cancelled and prohibited from printing.
Where organisations have a Central Reprographics Department further
cost control gains and benefits can be obtained. Alongside ATI's CRD
print room management software, doc-Q-route may be configured to
police for large jobs and ensure they are sent to the print room via
ATI's job ticketing system, rather than being printed on expensive
to run local departmental printers.
